Covid19:Presidency plans lockdown extension
The Presidency has stated the condition for an extension of the lockdown order issued in Lagos, FCT and Ogun State
The three states were locked down for two weeks by President Muhammadu Buhari on March 30 to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus
However, with the lockdown a few days away from expiration, Presidential Aide, Ajuri Ngelale in an exclusive interview with Nigeria Info said an extension is being discussed and a decision will be taken based on facts put before President Buhari.
The Senior Special Assistant, Public Affairs to the President explained a possible scenario that could lead to an extension.
According to him “If the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) the NCDC comes to him(Buhari) and says out of the 8000 contacts we are tracing, we have been able to trace 6500 but 1500 remain.
“Please we need an additional seven days to track this 1500, then of course the President will ensure they have that time to be able to stop the spread of this virus”
Ngelale finally said it he believes that a decision “will be made very shortly”
