Mr President to address Nigerians in a live broadcast today
President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday evening, April 13, address the country in a live national broadcast that will be aired on the NTA and other media outlets by 7 pm.
A brief statement from the media office of the President announced this on Twitter on Monday afternoon. Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on media and publicity, enjoined television and radio stations to hook up with the mother network services.
“President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation Monday, April 13, 2020 at 7pm,” Shehu tweeted. “Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”
Nigeria presently has 323 cases of coronavirus across 20 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as at the time of filing this report.
With the virus spreading across states, Buhari is expected to brief the country on the efforts put in place by the federal government and sub-national government to tackle the Covid-19 crisis.
Among other issues, the president is expected to address Nigerians on whether the lockdown will be extended down to other states or not after Kano, Kwara, Anambra and Niger recorded their first Covid-19 case.
