Michael Essien becomes Pedersen’s assistant at FC Nordsjaelland
Former Chelsea star Michael Essien has kicked off his coaching career after joining Danish side FC Nordsjaelland’s backroom staff as part of the process to be fully licenced as a manager.
The 37-year-old Ghanaian football legend will serve as an assistant to Flemming Pedersen during the 2020-21 campaign.
Essien recently hanged his professional boot after representing Azerbaijani football club Sabail FK as a player-coach for one year where he made 14 appearances but failed to find the back of the net.

The former Real Madrid player announced the development on his official Twitter page, saying he was excited to be a part of the team for the progress of his coaching career.
“I am delighted to have joined FC Nordsjaelland coaching staff as part of my development towards my full coaching licence.
“I will also be assisting the players on and off the pitch as part of my role.”
